Some experts advertise a low introductory rate, then add fees as the case grows. Experienced trial attorneys recognize this trap immediately — they're buying a final outcome and a final invoice, not an hourly meter.
When you retain a document examiner, you're not retaining an hourly rate. You're retaining a forensic report detailed enough to force settlement, and expert testimony polished enough that opposing counsel takes seriously. The cost of that work reflects its value to the case.
Bart Baggett (Handwriting Experts Inc)charges a flat fee. No surprise invoices. No add-ons hidden in the contract language. What you see at intake is what the case costs — because the outcome is what matters.
Bart Baggett has been court-qualified and testified in 25 states, internationally, and in federal and local courts — 137 times, with a 100% judicial acceptance rate. His cases have ranged from the value of a 1974 pickup truck to a $20 million corporate stock certificate dispute. When your case requires a polished, credible, and articulate forensic document examiner who holds up under cross-examination, call and speak with us today.
Step one is to call our office and explain your case. If it is a good fit, we will email you a retainer and start collecting the documents.

"Bart,
Your testimony and support during this lawsuit by my x-girlfriend has been nothing short of amazing. The judge
awarded me full amount of the $6,600 and finally I can sleep at night."
~ Mike Juaraz,
East Los Angeles
"Thanks you soooooo much for going above and beyond. Your testimony was the key the criminal lawsuit against me. The jury found me NOT GUILTY on all counts. They obviously believed you instead of that Police document examiner the D.A. hired.
I was so impressed you handled that District Attorney with such professionalism... he knew you
were right, but couldn't make you look bad on the witness stand.
I have my life back. Thank you Mr. Baggett!"
~ Amir Dawood, Attorney
San Bernadino, CA
"When you need a professional handwriting expert of the highest standards, hire Bart Baggett. He is
honest, quick, direct... and will deliver an objective expert opinion, every time. I recommend him without
hesitation."
~ Richard J. Riordan
39th Mayor of Los Angeles
"Bart Baggett is the best expert witness I've ever worked with. What's more, he successfully testified for
my client via telephone in a live trial here in Alaska. He even "consulted with me" on how best to cross-examine
the defense's document examiner. We won the trial and I recommend him whole heartedly."
~ Jim Fry, Attorney
Anchorage, Alaska
"Thank you very much for your assistance in this matter. Your opinion letter may become enough to
prevent a trial."
~ Sandra G. Slater
Phoenix, AZ
"Bart,
The fact that you were here, in the court, to prove my x-husband forged the prenuptial agreement was the key
winning to my divorce case. I can’t thank you enough. You’ve help end this horrible 2 year drama of lies and
created justice for me.."
~ Michelle Cheeley,
San Bernadino, CA
(X-Husband forged prenuptial agreement and settled during the court trial to avoid Bart's 2nd day of court
testimony.)

What is a
handwriting expert or court document examiner?
Can Bart testify in any state in the USA?
(Yes, Bart travels nationwide to testify in person and frequently on zoom. Because he
has offices in five cities, he has been qualified in over 20 of the 50 states and other countries, too. He
has been qualified to testify 100% of the
time he has appeared in court as an expert witness.)
How much do handwriting experts charge to render an
opinion?
Most experts are retired government employees and charge a retainer based on an hourly
fee. You have no way of knowing if they are taking 3 hours or 12 hours on your case. There are no credible
experts that charge $300 or less. If you see that price, you are dealing with a rookie, and that person has
not been to court 100 plus times. You are risking your case hiring a new person with prices too low or too
little experience. If you see a price that low, run the other
direction.
Prices vary widely based on the
numbers of documents and the amount of forensic testing, photographs, and whether or not testimony will be
required.
Why should
I hire Bart Baggett, instead of another less qualified examiner?
Bart is the arguably the most recognized (famous) handwriting expert working in the USA.
If credibility, accuracy, and integrity are important to your case, hire Bart. And, Bart has the rates as
associates who have been working less than a year professionally. The only reason not to hire Bart is if
your court date is on a date when Bart is already testifying in another case. He can't be two places at
once. You have seen him regularly on CNN and the other major new outlets.
What training does a handwriting expert have to have in order to testify in a court of law? That is a very long answer. The short answer is that an expert's qualifications are judged by the judge in each case. The long answer is that many working examiners are not qualified and shouldn't be taking cases and we hope you do not hire them. Mr. Baggett is very qualified.
My case contains no originals, can you still render an opinion which will hold up in court? Yes. Bart can render an official opinion based on just copies on a regular basis.
Will Bart's opinion be accepted in a court of law? Of course, but an expert witness's testimony is never a guarantee the judge will rule in your favor. Documents and handwritten evidence are usually just a small piece of a much larger puzzle.
How much will it cost to have Bart Baggett himself come to court and testify in person? Bart's rates are clearly stated on the rate sheet. His court appearance fee is in line with the other experts across the nation. In order for him to come to court, you must have already retained and designated him so he has time to render the authentic opinion.
Does he travel outside California. (Yes. Often.)
All these questions and more can be answered by simply calling our office. Your first conversation will take place without a fee, so you can make sure you are feel comfortable hiring Mr. Baggett and he is the best expert for your case.
